The works aimed at guaranteeing the physical safety of the users of that public space have had a cost of 16.000 euros
This Wednesday, the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council completed the renovation works on the entire perimeter fence of the Plaza de Montaña la Data to be able to offer residents public use of that leisure space with full guarantees of physical security.
The replacement of the fence, a structure that bridges the unevenness of the Plaza, was ruled by the Department of Roads and Works directed by the eighth deputy mayor, Araceli Armas Cruz, after verifying the poor condition of the old perimeter enclosure of the premises, which lacked maintenance and with numerous corrosions.
“It was decided to change the entire protective railing because we had to provide greater security and structural stability to the fencing of the plaza. The old one posed a real risk to people due to the serious deterioration it presented, with parts of it missing and with many sharp and cutting vertical profiles, even with several points of attachment of the steel to the wall completely broken,” says Araceli Armas. “Restoring it would have forced us to close the premises, depriving the population of space and, in addition to requiring much more time, it would also have been much more expensive,” he says.
That is why the replacement and removal of the fence and its transfer to the authorized recovery facility was expedited by hiring a specialized company through a public tender that was awarded to the entity Milenor Ferrallas SL for 15.919,30 euros.
The installation works of the new galvanized steel fence, approximately 44 linear meters long, have been carried out in just two weeks and have included the masonry tasks necessary for its fastening and protective painting and the stage railings. and the access ramp to the plaza.
