Easyjet Holidays plans to become the largest provider of holiday packages in the United Kingdom to markets such as Maspalomas, in the south of Gran Canaria. The holiday business is growing at Easyjet and has targeted a 10 per cent market share as a medium-term target, up from 3 per cent in 2019, as it looks to displace the likes of TUI and Jet2.
Garry Wilson told City AM and Maspalomas24H that "I think in terms of where that comes from, you have to take into account that with EasyJet we have over 100 million seats," he said. “Our power capability is to talk to EasyJet customers who travel to the destinations we sell holidays to and convert those who fly only on holidays to customers, the potential there is huge.”
Prices for package tours and flights are rising and travel agents have warned that tourists will likely have to pay 20 per cent more to fly to their favorite destinations in 2024. “We are cheaper 75 per cent of the time against some of our main competitors. And that is really attractive to customers who are looking for great value, but without compromising quality,” Wilson told City AM in London and Maspalomas24H.
“When we look at the types of customers and holidays we sell, I think there is a whole list and variety of opportunities we can explore. “We’re not in the villa space, we’re not in the ski space right now, you know… There are huge opportunities there,” Wilson concluded.
