Tirajana: Pérez regrets that NC is overloading officials with papers

The mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Marco Aurelio Pérez, warned last weekend that the management of PSOE and NC is costing "million-dollar investments" in the south of the island by updating local accounts. In an interview with Canarias7 in Las Palmas, the first mayor of the economic capital of the Canary Islands, stated that NC is torpedoing budget execution by overwhelming officials and preventing technical progress in various procedures such as the El Tablero parking lot, "which has cost a million dollars" and is in ruins. He explained that Edusi, a local urban modernization plan, with a budget of 15 million euros with money from Brussels, was dormant.

Pérez said that "NC is adopting a policy in San Bartolomé of throwing the stone and hiding the hand, boycotting, for example, through allegations to the budgets, so that all this slows down and we cannot meet the deadlines with Madrid" and that the Canarian formation "is acting with the worst way of doing politics, which is not to criticize, but rather making technicians have to issue reports and that leads to a slowdown in management." He denounced that "this is affecting the efforts for housing, the residence, the new municipal offices, the sports pavilion and the expansion of the Parque del Sur, which are the great milestones of this mandate. These projects should mark the balance of the mandate in 2027 ".

Pérez said that "we find a long etcetera" of "painful" absurdities such as in the Maspalomas Stadium "and thus countless sports facilities" that have generated delays when applying the program planned by PP-AV and CC, partners of the local government coalition. He added that this is one of the reasons for the delays in payments: "as the invoices were not processed or the contracts were updated, we found an average payment period of 144 days. We are giving strength to reduce that period and get closer to what the regulations establish", he pointed out in Canarias7.

Regarding the Edusi, he denounced that "in September 2023 (he took possession months before) we received a letter from the Ministry of Finance reminding us that we have an Edusi granted of 15 million euros and for which nothing has been justified. We got to look for that file and, in fact, not a single action had been carried out on an Edusi that we had left. From September to December we have managed to save 1,4 million".
