On February 21, 2024, the Civil Guard in Gran Canaria arrested a 56-year-old person with police records against property, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of robbery with force and two crimes of theft when accessing the interior of a hotel complex in the town of Puerto Rico by escalation, amounting to what was stolen and the damage caused to €3.300, in the municipality of Mogán.
Knowledge of the facts
On December 30, 2023, a complaint was received at the Main Post of Puerto Rico-Mogán in which the victim stated that unknown author(s) had gained access by climbing over the balcony of the second floor of the apartment to access the home and steal an iPad and cash.
After this complaint, in the following months there was a wave of victims reporting the same acts of robbery from the same place, frequently repeated in the same complex, time zone and through the same modus operandi, with the perpetrator increasing the cadence of action significantly in a short period of time.
Development of events
Given the seriousness of the reported events and the high number of reports of theft in the same hotel complex, the Civil Guard agents collect all the investigations, carry out the appropriate procedures and, after carrying out several viewings of the cameras of the security systems of the area, it can be seen in these images how the author accesses it by means of a ladder and proceeds to analyze the homes to locate those windows or doors that are open, or not locked, to enter the interior of the homes.
Discovering, during the ongoing investigation, even unreported facts and frustrated attempts by the author himself. For all these reasons, the Civil Guard on February 16, 2024, proceeded to arrest him for the events that were being investigated, in addition to having evidence that that same morning he acted again in the same complex. The proceedings were delivered to the Investigative Court No. 2 acting as Guard in the town of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
