The most savvy of tourism in the Canary Islands begin to receive sanctions

 

Between 30.000 and 300.000 euros, that is the amount of the penalty faced by a smart guy from Arrecife who thought it was a good idea to set up 30 tents in an old furniture store and offer it on vacation rental platforms as a space 'coworking'.

 

A supposed 'coworking' that ended up resulting in the rental of those thirty tents to tourists who, out of necessity or savings, chose this option to stay on the islands. Of course, the place did not have any type of tourist license and carried out its activity hiding from the neighbors to the point of exhorting tourists to “not give explanations to anyone” about the place.

 

 

 

When this matter was discovered, the person in charge behind this 'innovative' business had the courage to appear on the Televisión Canaria news and claim that it was "a coworking with rest areas" and, cockily, he assured that people did not He understood it because “it is a new business model.”

 

The Island Tourism Department has already announced that the Tourism Inspection has launched the corresponding sanctioning file for a serious infraction.

 

However, it is not the only crazy alternative that has been offered as tourist accommodation at the beginning of 2024 in the Canary Islands. Also in Lanzarote, until a few days ago, a cabin in the vicinity of the La Corona Volcano was offered for 50 euros per night. 

 

 

 

 

An accommodation without any type of license and in which, to have a bowel movement, you had to go outside the cabin and sit in a washing bucket 'fully adapted' to the guest's hygienic needs.

 

Tenerife is also not immune to this wave of cheap entrepreneurs in the tourism sector. In this case, the owner of an apartment in Santa Cruz de Tenerife decided to put two tents on the roof of the building where she lived, which she shared 50% with another owner, and offer them for 12 euros per night.

 

A fact that was reported and that, at the time of vacating the terrace, it was discovered that an Italian mother with her son resided in one of those huts. The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council condemned these events and warned of sanctions that could range between 15.000 and 30.000 euros.
