The works carried out during the last two months are now completely completed. They were executed through a contract awarded to the construction SME of Manuel José Serafín Plasencia for a financial amount of about 76.442 euros.
The project now allows the facility to be used and exploited not only for sports practice but also for carrying out municipal outdoor activities as a multipurpose space, capable of hosting various uses depending on the needs that the population may have at any given time.
“The main premise that has been followed is to rehabilitate the court so that the inhabitants of Fataga can use the facility safely and without danger to their physical integrity, an issue that worried us greatly due to the poor condition it was in previously,” says the Councilor for Roads and Works, Araceli Armas Cruz.

The field, with three lines of stands, planters and perimeter fencing, remained in use by the Fataga neighborhood and by the students of the Public School until it stopped operating and closed its doors in 2010.
The works that have been carried out have focused on the complete restoration of the entire pavement and traffic area, for which the entire old concrete surface, approximately 1.100 m², had to be demolished and re-cashed and compacted with a height of 15 centimeters to stabilize the ground, which was the main problem that the installation presented.
Once the works have been completed, which have also made it possible to improve the entrance access, the venue offers two totally different spaces. The sports area itself, of about 700 m², protected with 5 centimeters of a hot bituminous mix of type D-10, and a leisure area in which the installation of a children's playground is planned.
"The Department of Roads and Works already plans in its work plan to undertake the painting of the stands and the walls of the venue and the renovation of the lighting system, which will be equipped with LED lights," reports the delegate councilor for this area, Eduardo Armas Herrera.
