TUI: 40 percent increase for summer in Maspalomas

After the good start to the season in the travel sector, the booking curve at TUI continues to show a clear upward trend of more than 40 percent, according to the figures presented last week at the ITB in Berlin by Stefan Baumert, general director of TUI Deutschland. The market leader in southern Gran Canaria expects Greece to reach an all-time high next summer. Crete is in third place in the current Desti ranking. It is followed by Rhodes, Hurghada and Kos, the third Greek destination, from fourth to sixth place. Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria occupy seventh and eighth place, followed by mainland Spain and Tenerife. TUI's top destinations in the Mediterranean during the summer are Bulgaria, with bookings up 23 percent, and Albania, with triple-digit growth.

Around 80 percent of the bookings TUI currently receives refer to summer; The proportion of advance reservations is especially high among families, says Baumert. According to Baumert, next summer is booked "well in advance": 60 percent of reservations are made at least three months before the start of the trip. The months with the highest reservations are currently June and July, followed by August.

Overall, according to Baumert, TUI Deutschland is currently making double-digit profits. It doesn't go into more details. What is important to him is the statement that package holidays remain “by far the most popular way to travel”. Younger tourists are also increasingly appreciating complete, worry-free packages. For Baumert, the reason is obvious: "You are more flexible than ever."

When it comes to travel destinations, the competition from the south of Gran Canaria does not stop: the classics are still first. After a good start to autumn, Mallorca remains the undisputed number one on TUI with a huge increase in bookings of 31 percent currently. The Turkish Riviera is in second place with a 29 percent increase, driven by, among other things, new flights to Antalya with TUI Fly from Hannover, an exclusive agreement with Rixos and the new adults-only Magic Life Beldibi as a club only for adults. .
