Gran Canaria exceeds 400.000 foreign passengers in the best tourist February of all time

Congratulations to the tourism sector of Gran Canaria. After having the best month of December in the historical series in passenger volume and billing, continuing with the best month of January since records exist, now it is the turn of February, which with 402.594 foreign visitors, according to Aena data, surpasses the maximum registration in the month of February in relation to international passengers. With this data, Gran Canaria increases the number of non-national clients by 13.84% compared to the same month of the previous year, which ended with 353.637. 

 

The Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo, explained that not only is it the best month of February “but it also represents the fourth best month of all time in terms of the volume of foreign passengers at the historic airport of Gran Canaria. “Gran Canaria”. The month of February 2024 presents positive indicators in all national markets with at least a thousand visitors, except in two, with maximum records in the presence of some nationalities. Germany has recovered 14% of tourist presence on the island in a year-on-year comparison and is once again the most present nationality in the Gran Canaria winter season, with 93.417 visitors in the recent month of February. The British follow, with 77.876 visitors and a growth of 13,48% compared to February 2023. The Norwegians complete the monthly podium with the arrival of 42.412 passengers, 17,19% more than last year. Meanwhile, the greatest increase occurs among Italians, with an increase of 34,22% compared to February 2023. The only markets that lose presence are the French, which goes from 10.776 in February 2023 to 8.367 in 2024 Portugal has gone from 4.109 to 2.748. In total, the destination has added 48.957 clients compared to the same month of the previous year and is heading towards a historic year for the sector.
