The audiovisual project, led by actress Emma Appleton and actors Laurie Davidson and David Jonsson, is produced by Paramount's television division.
These days, the historic center of Agüimes has become the filming set for the third season of the British series 'The road trip', produced by Paramount's television and streaming division and by the international production company 42. It is a audiovisual adaptation of the novel of the same name by London writer Beth O'Leary, a best seller in the United Kingdom that tells the story of two sisters who suffer a tragic traffic accident. After the event, they both decide to take a long trip in a motorhome. The action is starred on screen by actress Emma Appleton and actors Laurie Davidson and David Jonsson.

The filming, which has been raising great expectations among residents and visitors of Agüimes for days, was concentrated this Friday in the area around Plaza del Rosario and the Church of San Sebastián. A large team of 120 people has managed to recreate in the streets of the town the scenes that the script places in Andalusia. The diversity and versatility of landscapes that the island offers is precisely one of the reasons why the production has chosen Gran Canaria for this filming, which also took place in the Guayadeque ravine, in addition to other notable points of the island's geography distributed by 14 of the 21 municipalities.

The mayor of Agüimes, Óscar Hernández, and the president of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, visited the filming set this Thursday, where they held a meeting with the producers of the series and with the coordinator of the Gran Canaria Film Commission, Nuria Guinnot. The filming of the series is an opportunity to give visibility to both the municipality and the island, gain positioning as a destination for the production of large audiovisual productions and contribute to the revitalization of the local economy and commerce.
Over the last few years, Gran Canaria has become a favorite place for international film projects. During the first quarter of 2024, five projects of this type have been filmed on the island and another six large audiovisual productions of these characteristics are already scheduled.
