The Great Parade of the Maspalomas International Carnival 2024 already has its winning floats

 

This Saturday, one hundred floats toured the main streets and avenues of the tourist town of Playa del Inglés, flooding them with thousands of masks that danced to the rhythm of the music that was playing everywhere. The starting signal came from the mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Marco Aurelio Pérez, together with Alejandro Marichal, first deputy mayor and the Councilor for Celebrations and Events, Yilenia Vega. Leading the parade, the court of this carnival: the Queen, Dayanara Hernández, the Grand Lady, Mari Carmen Rodríguez, the Child Queen, Carmen Atteneri, all of them accompanied by their ladies, as well as the Drag Tamito, who also paraded along with the rest of winners at the Drag Gala, all of them showing off the fantasies that brought them to the throne. Once the parade of all the floats ended, thousands of people crowded the Yumbo Shopping Center and its surroundings, all concentrated there to continue with the party that was offered from the stage and the areas set up for the popular beach bars.

 

 

 

 

 

130.000 kilos of waste

The Cleaning Department of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, directed by Ruymán Cardoso, reported that after the last float passed by, around 5 in the morning, a cleaning operation began consisting of 80 workers and 30 machines that lasted until 13:00 p.m. this Sunday. It is estimated that each attendee generated 1,7 kilos of waste.

 

 

This afternoon it is time to say goodbye to the Maspalomas International Carnival 2024 with the burial of the sardine, which together with its entourage of widows, authorities and neighbors, will parade on its last journey from Avenida de España until reaching the vicinity of the Annex II Shopping Center.

 

An event that will feature the comedian Maestro Florido, who will be in charge of the usual reading of the will. The musical group Bamboleo will be the ones who provide the musical note to this culmination of this carnival dedicated to television memories.

 

This year, the carnival has once again been a success in participation, which also returned to us two of its most representative events, La Cabalgata Infantil and El Carnaval al Sol de los 40 Principales, absent from the festivities in the last four editions. A success, this edition in terms of the spectacular nature of its events, the high citizen participation and the perfect organization of all the organizations involved, which once again catapults it as one of the most important Carnivals in the Canary Islands.
