The City Council celebrates the Unión Agüimes Fighting Club for its recent victory in the Super League

A large representation of the Unión Agüimes Fighting Club gathered this Monday in the Plenary Hall of the Agüimes City Council to collect the plaque that the municipal institution, from the hands of its mayor, Óscar Hernández, gave to the team in recognition of its latest successes. sports. The last of these successes, the championship of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria Superliga of Second Category, won on March 8 in an exciting final held in the municipal arena of Vecindario, in which the Agüimense team managed to defeat the Castillo Fight Club , from San Bartolomé de Tirajana, by a tight 12-10.

On behalf of Unión Agüimes, its vice president, Aridane González, thanked the City Council for its support. He also took the opportunity to congratulate the members of the different sections and categories of the club for their work and recalled the other two great results achieved this season: the runner-up in the cadet category, the third place in the youth category, both indicative of the great work that the team is doing with the quarry, thus supporting the future of the Canary Islands fight in the municipality.

The mayor, Óscar Hernández, was accompanied at the event by the Sports Councilor, Alberto Santana. Both highlighted the effort made by wrestlers, coaches and managers and stressed their gratitude to Unión Agüimes for carrying the name of the municipality, one of the ones with the most tradition in our vernacular sport, throughout all the lands of the Canary Islands.
