Everything is ready in La Aldea de San Nicolás to host the XI Rural and Active Tourism Conference, which will be held on March 22 and 23 at the Municipal Culture Center.

 

The conferences were presented this Wednesday at a press conference by the Councilor for Tourism of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo, the mayor of La Aldea de San Nicolás, Víctor Hernández, and the Councilor for Tourism, Néstor Oliver Ramírez.

 

And this meeting, which has become an unavoidable event for professionals in the tourism sector and for the general public, aims to promote reflection on the situation in which the sector finds itself and to delve deeper into those areas that strengthen the alternative tourism model, taking advantage of the possibilities offered by rural environments.

 

In this sense, the Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo, has pointed out that "Active and Rural Tourism has become one of the great assets of our industry and one of its greatest potentials, gaining ground every day. compared to the traditional products of Sol y Playa, especially when it is done with sensitivity to issues of ecological transition as is the case at hand.”

 

“This tourist is fundamental in the growth that the importance of the complementary offer is having and has become the main attraction for today's tourist, more interested than before in the complete experience in Gran Canaria nature,” indicated the counselor.

 

And he added that “I think it is a good idea that Gran Canaria is committed to Rural and Active Tourism as one of its main assets when it comes to attracting a client that is profitable for the island economy while being respectful of the territory and that allows increasing turnover in places and municipalities such as La Aldea de San Nicolás, which like other corners of the island, has a lot to contribute to the client who is looking for an unforgettable experience in a privileged environment such as ours and where La Aldea stands out. I sincerely believe that they have a lot to contribute to the tourism brand of Gran Canaria and that this development benefits the citizens of these municipalities to a great extent."

 

For his part, the mayor of La Aldea de San Nicolás, Víctor Hernández, has highlighted that La Aldea de San Nicolás has all the conditions and tourist attractions that any visitor could wish for, because “it has sea, nature, trails, gastronomy, culture , heritage, and a close and friendly citizenry that welcomes everyone who comes to the municipality.”

 

In this regard, he recalled that "tourism has increased thanks to the opening of the Faneque tunnels, and this is being felt in the socioeconomic development of the municipality." In addition to the fact that “whoever visits La Aldea de San Nicolás repeats”, because “it is one of the most beautiful municipalities on the island”.

 

Of course, Hernández has indicated that it is important that "the tourism development of the municipality is sustainable and respectful of the idiosyncrasy of the municipality", because "the tourism boom does not have to lead us to renounce our roots and traditions."

 

The Councilor for Tourism of La Aldea de San Nicolás, Néstor Oliver Ramírez, has expressed himself along similar lines, explaining the lines of tourism development of the municipality, which are based on models that respect the environment and local idiosyncrasy. “This municipal corporation approaches this stage with great responsibility and at the same time with the challenge of being part of the tourist growth of La Aldea de San Nicolás.”

 

Likewise, he added that we must opt ​​for "sustainable tourism, that respects the environment and that further enhances the natural resources that we have at our disposal", so "one of the objectives that we have scheduled and to exploit are the incredible “Sunsets that the village sunset gives us every day.”

 

“Our culture has to be a point to take into account in this progress,” since “without creating an identity we consider that the population in general will not take it as something of their own,” he concluded.
