With the arrival of the school holidays, the Agüimes City Council once again places the floating platforms, so appreciated by residents and visitors. The beach surveillance service is also activated from March 23 to 31.
With the arrival of Easter and school holidays, Arinaga's beaches are packed with bathers, both locals and tourists, eager to enjoy the good weather. Like every year, this is the moment chosen by the Agüimes City Council to once again place three floating platforms in front of the most frequented bathing areas, highly appreciated by coastal users. They will be located in Los Barquillos, La Planita and Risco Verde, about 100 meters from the shore, where a minimum depth of 6 meters can be reached during high tide.
With dimensions of 5x3, 6x3 and 5x2,5 meters respectively, these structures are removed between October and March to avoid the deterioration caused by strong waves and sea storms, common during the winter months. They are made up of PVC cubes joined together and serve as a support or solarium for those who swim in Arinaga Bay or for those simply looking for a place to rest, sunbathe or take a dip in the sea. They have stairs to facilitate access from the water and are suitable for all ages, although it is recommended that people who do not exercise regularly and those who do not have enough resistance and autonomy to swim move avoid using them.
Beach surveillance service
As is also usual every year during Holy Week, given the forecast of a greater influx of bathers, from Saturday, March 23 to Sunday, March 31, a special maritime surveillance and rescue service will be activated, from 11:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m. The supervised bathing areas will be those of Playa de Arinaga, El Muelle, El Soco Negro, Risco Verde and Playa de Cabrón, spaces in which five lifeguards will work on the beach, a boat skipper and a person in charge located at the Help.
