Agents of the National Police have arrested a 37-year-old man in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, with a police record, as the alleged perpetrator of eight crimes of robbery with violence.
The complaints filed by several tourists in the south of the island, where they stated that they had been victims of a robbery through the modus operandi of pulling, caused agents of the National Police to initiate an investigation to achieve full identification of the perpetrator. Two of the victims had to be transferred to nearby hospitals by ambulance due to the violence used.
The police investigation carried out achieved full identification of the alleged perpetrator, a man who always used the same modus operandi and whose characteristics coincided with those provided by the different victims.
He had already been identified by the agents as the person responsible for two acts of the same characteristics committed in 2022, having not been able to be arrested previously since he had fled the national territory after committing the acts.
The agents carried out the necessary investigations to locate the alleged perpetrator, who was located and detained at the Gran Canaria airport when he was preparing to take a flight to Barcelona.
The police investigation was able to determine that the arrested person, with habitual residence in France, moved to the south of the island of Gran Canaria, taking advantage of the peak tourist seasons to commit criminal offenses.
The detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority who ordered his imprisonment.
