The next time change to adjust our clocks to daylight saving time in 2024 will take place on March 31, when 1 a.m. will be 2 a.m.
In the Canary Islands, at 1 a.m. on March 31st it will be 2 a.m., thus marking the beginning of summer time. This change involves moving clocks forward one hour, which will result in longer days with later sunrises.
This change marks one of two annual time changes. Although they may seem harmless and only occur twice a year, these time changes can cause disruptions in sleep routines, headaches, irritability and other consequences as the body needs to adapt to this change.
Spain has made time changes since 1918 to make better use of natural light, although some studies suggest that these changes do not have a significant impact on the economy and establishing a single timetable is already being studied in a few years. However, for now the Official State Gazette (BOE) has published the schedule changes until 2026.
After this, the next time change is scheduled for the early morning of October 27, 2024, when it will return to winter time.
