Diginnova strengthens itself with its second edition to incorporate talent in Canarian companies

 

 

 

The Rectorate of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) has hosted the presentation event of the new edition of the “Diginnova: Transform yourself for change” Program to train residents in the Canary Islands with higher degrees in innovation, digitalization and sustainability and, in this way, promote their incorporation into the world of work. 

 

This meeting, which brought together around sixty people including authorities, heads of entities and participants in this edition, included the interventions of the Minister of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, Migdalia Machín; the president of the University Foundation of Las Palmas (FULP), Alberto Cabré; the rector of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), Lluís Serra; and the rector of the University of La Laguna (ULL), Francisco García.

 

 

The president of the FULP, Alberto Cabré, was in charge of opening the event and stated that "the important thing about this Program is the commitment to promoting the combination of practical training and employability", and assured that "the data on job placement that it has achieved Diginnova are an example that both concepts can go hand in hand.

 

Francisco García, rector of the ULL, expressed that "we are facing a project that is very good news for the Canary Islands, because it not only aims to improve employability but also aims to transform the productive fabric by incorporating specialized talent in areas that are the future".

 

 

For his part, the rector of the ULPGC, Lluís Serra, referred to the "important role of public universities in being able to carry out projects like Diginnova", and valued "the work carried out by the Las Palmas University Foundation and the General Foundation of the University of La Laguna (FGULL) to promote quality training and employability through these programs.

 

Finally, the Minister of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, Migdalia Machín, stated that "Diginnova is a visionary Program designed to be the catalyst for a new era in innovation, sustainability and digitalization", and He highlighted that "by integrating higher education graduates into companies, this Program not only enriches the business fabric with fresh ideas and innovative perspectives, but also offers those who participate an unparalleled opportunity to apply their knowledge in real and dynamic environments."

 

A successful and innovative project

 

Diginnova exceeded all its expectations in a first edition that had a total of 1623 registrations, 969 accredited participants and 450 internships in companies, and which culminated with figures close to 40% of job placement of the facilitators in the companies in which they participated. They developed their practical experience, data that supports the success of this Program.

 

The testimonies of the promoters also support the guarantee of this project which, in the words of Silvia Beatriz Pérez, promoter of the first edition, "it is an enriching Program in every sense, which has allowed me to acquire knowledge and "skills that complement my previous training and that I have been able to apply during my internship in a local company."

 

This second edition currently has 343 registered participants —138 men, 202 women and 3 non-binary individuals—, of whom 230 have already begun their online training period.

 

The registration period remains open, with a new start date announced each month for university graduates who wish to participate and begin the online theoretical training. The registration period for companies and research centers seeking to recruit specialists in innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation will open in the second half of April.

 

 

What is Diginnova

Sustainability, innovation and digital transformation are the three axes on which Diginnova pivots, which also seeks to promote the ecological and digital transition as an engine of growth for companies and research centers in the Canary Islands, which will be able to host for five months now zero cost to facilitators who have specialized in these areas. In this way, they will be able to adapt to the new reality of the productive fabric of the Canary Islands, in which digital skills and environmental, social and economic sustainability play a major role.

 

People with legal residence in the Canary Islands and who are registered as job seekers can participate. In addition, they must have a university degree or a higher-level training cycle in Vocational Training in any professional field or sector.

 

For their part, companies and research centers that want to incorporate promoters specialized in innovation, digitalization and sustainability, must have their own legal personality and fiscal and social headquarters in the Archipelago.
