Presentation of the 1st Ecoener Gran Canaria International Women's Basketball Tournament

 

Ecoener Gran Canaria, the new International U14 Women's Basketball Tournament organized by the Castillo Basketball Club, with the sponsorship of Ecoener and the collaboration of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, was presented this past Thursday at an event held at Bungalows Vistaflor, Maspalomas .

 

The Tartu Ülikool teams from Estonia, UCAM Murcia, CB 7 Palmas, CB SureSanta and the Gran Canaria National Team make up the poster of a tournament that will be played in a round-robin format during the first three days, leaving the crosses for Sunday define the final classification.

 

 

 

The event that will be held between April 11 and 14, 2024 at the Vicente del Bosque Sports City – Castillo del Romeral has had in its presentation the presence of Esther Delgado Sánchez - Councilor for Culture, Equality, Education and Youth of the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Loreto Márquez Espino – Deputy Director of Communication at Ecoener, Domingo Espino Hernández – CEO of Vistaflor Hotels, Andrea Ramírez Díaz – Technical Director of the Insular Basketball Federation and José Fernández Alemán – President of the Castillo Basketball Club.

 

Esther Delgado Sánchez wanted to open the event with a few words of recognition to the Castillo Basketball Club project “The Castillo Basketball Club has been a benchmark in our municipality for 38 years and we are grateful for the work they have been doing during these years in favor of our children and young people” He also highlighted that thanks to this type of events, participants and families are offered the opportunity to strengthen sporting and sociocultural ties, get to know and enjoy our municipality.

 

Subsequently, Loreto Márquez, Deputy Director of Communication at Ecoener, valued her company's participation in the event: “It is very easy to explain our presence, it is a commitment to childhood, sports and equality.”

 

 

Domingo Espino Hernández, CEO of Vistaflor Hotels and recent Roque Nublo winner, spoke in similar terms: “We have great experience in hosting athletes and families at sporting events in our facilities, but this is not just another one for us, at this International Basketball Tournament. Women's event organized by the Castillo Basketball Club, we want to give it all the love in the world because it is an entity close to us and with which we collaborate closely."

 

In his speech, José Fernández, president of the Castillo Basketball Club, highlighted that “Basketball at this level is very important to continue developing fans and youth. It will demand a lot from all the players and it will surely be an extra motivation for all of them. We are very grateful to Ecoener for its support and trust as well as the collaboration of the different companies and the support of the Insular Basketball Federation, always keeping the door open to new challenges like ours." He concluded by highlighting that this tournament will be possible thanks to the involvement and tireless work of the entire human group that makes up the Castillo Basketball Club project.

 

Representatives of CB Suresanta were also present at the event, as well as youth players from the Castillo Basketball Club.
