The presence of a drone in the vicinity of the Gran Canaria Airport has caused detours and waits for more than a dozen planes to touch down on the island
A drone has caused chaos tonight at the Gran Canaria airport. Around 21:00 p.m., the crew of a flight that was preparing to land on the island and part of the aerodrome's ground staff notified the control tower of the presence of a drone in the vicinity in the Gando area.

Immediately, the control tower began to coordinate traffic on the airport runways, leaving up to 7 planes on hold and diverting some flights to Fuerteventura.
Just ten minutes later, the alert reached the Eurocontrol Operational Portal while the detours to the two airports in Tenerife and Fuerteventura took place.
At the moment, airport activity has been stopped until further notice. After more than an hour, movement at the airport has begun again.
