The SPAR Gran Canaria supermarket chain has renewed its sponsorship agreement with the SPAR Guerra del Río Latin sailing boat for another year. The Canarian group of merchants, which has signed 21 years of commitment to this native sport, celebrated this consolidated alliance at the presentation ceremony of the new season and the crew.
The meeting, which took place this afternoon following tradition at the Sports Pier of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, was attended by the members and crew of the boat, with the assistance of the three new skippers for this season. They were accompanied by representatives of the Latin Sailing Federation, by the boat president, Tino de la Nuez, and by representatives of SPAR Gran Canaria; Ángel Medina and Dunia Pérez, president and general director of the supermarket chain, respectively, among other attendees.
In addition to the renewal of the sponsorship between the Gran Canaria supermarket chain and the boat, during the event the new signings for the crew were introduced, among which were the skippers of the boat for this season; Adrián Morales, who repeats as skipper for the second year, the new incorporation, the veteran skipper Daniel Rodríguez and the new incorporations as skippers, previously being crew members; Ana Cambres and Airam Saavedra. The crew highlighted some of the new features for this season, debuting a new sail and several improvements to the boat.

The members of the SPAR Guerra del Río also highlighted the good results of the previous season, recalling the leadership maintained in a large number of days in the Aguas de Teror Championship last year, in which they were finally classified as runners-up, as well as the classification in 3rd position in the Gran Canaria Island Cup and 4th place in the Federation Trophy.
The representatives of the boat also remembered the activities carried out last year through their social project, Inclusive Canarian Sailing: Sailing together on the islands, which they will repeat this year. This initiative was born with the aim of promoting the inclusion of people with functional diversity, holding open days, sports activities and sea baptisms with these groups. In this way, two open days were held in collaboration with the Asperger Islas Canarias association, in which 50 users participated, and a sailing day with the Trisomía 21 Gran Canaria association, in which 40 users participated.
For their part, the representatives of SPAR Gran Canaria highlighted their pride in maintaining this historical connection, since 2003, with the indigenous sport of Latin sailing and Canarian traditions.
