The Sports Department of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria has acquired and transferred a regulatory rhythmic gymnastics mat to the Daysan El Tablero Club, equipment that will be used for training and competitions in this sport. An equipment that has cost 4.173 euros.
The Sports Councilor of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Francisco Castellano, together with the president of the Insular Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics of Gran Canaria, Yaiza Ojeda, and the president and coach of the Daysan El Tablero Club, Nereida Castellano, visited the pavilion facilities from El Tablero de Maspalomas, which is the club's training site and where the tapestry has been placed.
During the visit, Francisco Castellano highlighted that "this is an important action for the Department of Sports, since we make a need that the Daysan Club had to be able to carry out training a reality." Furthermore, he added that this action “will continue the work of promoting rhythmic gymnastics, training in an optimal way, and increasing the possibilities of participation in numerous competitions at different levels, both municipal, insular, regional and national. We must bet on the grassroots sport of our island”
For her part, Nereida Castellano expressed her gratitude to the Department of Sports for the investment it has made to be able to have this regulatory mat for training. “This tapestry is the fundamental tool for practicing our sport, along with a high pavilion like this one. We hope to be able to enjoy it for many years,” said the club president.
The Daysan Rhythmic Gymnastics Club was founded in 2008 in El Tablero, in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, and has created sports initiation schools in Aldea Blanca, El Pajar and El Castillo del Romeral in order to promote this sport.
Currently, 150 minors and young people between the ages of 3 and 22 participate, supervised by a qualified technical team of five coaches who work with different levels of practice that reach the national category of the modality, participating in the second division of the Iberdrola League. , where Náyade Pérez has won the bronze medal with the rope exercise in the first phase of said league.
As the club's achievements, highlight the Spanish runner-up of the children's team in the National held in Valencia in 2020, in which Aldara Suárez was crowned Spanish champion in the junior pelota category. This same gymnast, along with Dafne Ojeda, won the bronze medal for teams in the same championship, while Desireé Luján was proclaimed runner-up for Spain in the hoop final of the First Category for teams. In addition, the club has also participated in the Island Games, as well as in Federated Promotion school leagues, obtaining magnificent results and thus promoting grassroots sports on the Island.
