The officials of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council have ensured that the execution of the budget has generated planned effects. From the 625 kilometers in 2015, there have been 1.000 kilometers of public lighting by February 2024, according to EC data to which Maspalomas24H has had access. From 2,1 million euros it has gone to 5,9 million euros in less than 10 years with 7,7 megawatts of power on the street to generate security for residents and tourists with efficient management measures for the municipality's energy consumption. .
Through the existing public lighting infrastructures, a real-time lighting service remote management system has been implemented, while IP networks will be created over them, thus providing endless value-added services to tourists and citizens. , which will considerably improve their quality of life and, at the same time, will mean significant savings in energy costs for the city council.
Currently, the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has a total of 190 Control Panels and about 13.000 light points. The 'Maspalomas Smart Destination' project has a budget of 5,7 million euros, 63% contributed by Red.es and 37% by the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, and is co-financed by FEDER through the Pluriregional Operational Program of Spain (POPE).
This initiative aims to transform the city as a Smart Tourist Destination by improving energy efficiency in the activity of the environment and, specifically, in tourist activity, strategically positioning itself within the open ecosystem of innovation in the field of smart communities. It will allow the implementation of a Smart and Open Data Platform, with components, among others, of Big Data, and the deployment of equipment in the field of security, including a Comprehensive Emergency Management Platform, the evolution of the Control Center and the supply of cameras, surveillance drones and geolocation bracelets.
'Maspalomas Smart Destination' also foresees the implementation of a Digital Tourism Marketing Platform, the provision of infrastructure in the tourist offices in the area, the installation of a Wi-Fi network, the development of a tourism mobile application, the intelligent management of lighting and the installation of a network of sensors and meteorological stations on beaches.
