The Department of Municipal Services headed by Councilor Araceli Armas replaces the 110 street lights on the premises, 70 of them completely out of service, with new photovoltaic LED lights with greater energy efficiency

The deterioration of the lighting due to the lack of maintenance and abandonment that it suffered during the previous legislature was generating security problems in several areas of the facility.

The City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana is proceeding with the renovation of the 110 luminaires of the Parque Urbano del Sur to solve the lighting problems of the leisure area, and definitively solve the difficulties for the visibility and safety of users due to the insufficiency of their operation in some areas.

The replacement of the luminaires, promoted by the Department of Municipal Services coordinated by the eighth deputy mayor Araceli Armas Cruz and supervised by the councilor delegate Eduardo Armas Herrera, began this Monday and is expected to be completed over the next week.

Due to the impossibility of carrying it out with the City Council's own resources, the new lighting installation is being carried out by the entity Biochar Technologies SLU, which was awarded the contract for its supply and assembly for approximately 50.769 euros. The bidding procedure open to the most advantageous offer began last September and was attended by 6 companies in the sector.

The lighting renovation work in the Parque del Sur is consisting of the removal of the 110 outdated streetlights, 70 of which were already completely out of service, and their replacement with 20 and 40 watt LED lights, photovoltaic and without connection to the electricity supply, with lower energy consumption and much lower maintenance costs.

“The interior lighting of the premises was causing a security problem for the residents due to the long abandonment and lack of maintenance it has suffered in recent years. With the new autonomous and mercury-free lights, we opt for energy efficiency to achieve greater sustainability parameters and reduce the environmental impact, and at the same time we turn the Park into a much more friendly and self-sufficient space,” says Araceli Armas.
