On April 08, 2024, the Civil Guard of Gran Canaria investigated a 45-year-old woman with a police record as the alleged perpetrator of six crimes of theft, four less serious and two minor, committed in rooms of the hotel where she worked in the cleaning service performing functions of deputy governor, in the municipality of Mogán.

Since last June 29, 2023, the Civil Guard has received a wave of complaints at the Puerto Rico-Mogán Main Post for the alleged commission of crimes against property in rooms of the same hotel.

All thefts occurred during daylight hours, never after 17:00 p.m., always with the guests present and without signs of use of force or escalation to access the rooms, as well as the search of the rooms. belongings of clients, stealing mainly cash, despite the existence of jewelry or other valuables such as tablets or mobile phones being visible.

The Civil Guard carried out arduous investigative work which was especially difficult and prolonged over time, analyzing readings made on the electronic locks of the rooms where the alleged criminal acts took place, statements were taken from witnesses and numerous hours of footage were viewed. recordings made by the video surveillance system installed in the hotel complex.

In the readings of the electronic locks of the rooms, only access by hotel staff was recorded, nor were accesses by people outside the establishment observed in the recordings made by the security system installed in the hotel.

Therefore, it was concluded that the alleged author could correspond with a room cleaning service worker who performed the functions of deputy manager, given that she had access to the electronic keys of her subordinates, and exercised her labor superiority over newly hired personnel. so that they could open the doors of the rooms they were cleaning using their identification cards with the excuse of reviewing the status of the work carried out, which meant that the person under investigation did not appear in their readings.

Once all the evidence was obtained, a police operation was carried out on the day the person under investigation had returned to work after a day of rest, with the intention of surprising her as she left work and carrying out a superficial search and search of her his personal belongings, as well as the vehicle with which he usually traveled to his workplace.

When she was surprised by the agents, she threw two cards on the floor that matched the electronic keys of hotel employees, and tried to get rid of the amount of 750 euros in cash, which she had hidden inside her underwear, all of which were this recovered by the acting agents.

Inside the vehicle, a bank card in the name of a long-stay resident of the hotel was seized, containing 150 euros, 500 Norwegian crowns and 20 Swedish crowns in banknotes. These items were immediately seized, and it was found that the cards matched the electronic keys of the hotel's cleaning service workers, having used one of them to access rooms where alleged theft crimes were committed.

The proceedings were sent to the competent Investigative Courts of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
