The new innovative commitment to promote the consumption of kilometer zero products from the SPAR Gran Canaria supermarket chain has been announced at the Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair, one of the largest events dedicated to local products on the island. The chain has thus presented one of its most notable projects for 2024; the new food truck 'La SPARETA', which will offer proposals with locally sourced ingredients such as tomatoes from La Aldea, lettuce from Guía, onion from Gáldar or arugula from Telde, among others. 

 

'The SPARETA' is a unique vehicle in the Canary Islands, having been adapted by a specialized coachbuilder into a new vehicle with a retro aesthetic, achieving a perfect fusion between the latest technology and a vintage aesthetic. The food truck incorporates top-level hospitality equipment managed by professional chefs.

 

At 'La SPARETA', visitors to the fair will be able to taste the products on its menu, which includes innovative recipes for the traditional products offered by this type of food trucks. A menu made with fresh products and that includes salads, potatoes, sandwiches, chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, desserts and drinks at affordable prices and that will be available from 12:00 p.m. in the gastronomic area in Infecar. Furthermore, maintaining its commitment to kilometer zero, the proposals on the menu will include ingredients of local origin such as tomatoes from La Aldea, lettuce from Guía, onion from Gáldar, arugula from Telde or wines from Gran Canaria, among others.

 

'La SPARETA' was born with the aim of bringing the quality and freshness of our land to the entire population. Thus, the SPAR Gran Canaria food truck will soon tour the island, being present at different social, sporting and cultural events, promoting the consumption of local products. Aware of caring for the environment, the new food truck 'La SPARETA' will not use plastic products in its tableware, instead offering more sustainable alternatives, thus serving the products on its menu in more sustainable tableware.

 

SPAR Gran Canaria will continue to be present this weekend during the Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair at its stand located in Pavilion 7 of Infecar. Visitors to the chain's stand will have a wide range of fruits and vegetables grown in Gran Canaria, among which they will find tomatoes from La Aldea, strawberries from Valsequillo, lettuces from Guía, potatoes from San Mateo, avocados from Mogán, carrots from Moya. , red peppers from Santa Lucía, zucchini from Telde, cucumbers from Santa Lucía and papayas grown in La Aldea. 

 

All of these local products, of 100% local origin, will be on sale at special prices. In addition, visitors who purchase these products will receive a gift from SPAR Gran Canaria for collaborating in supporting the island's primary sector. Thus, after exceeding 5.000 kilos of local products sold in the last edition of the fair, the Gran Canaria supermarket chain plans to market more than 6.000 kilos of an assortment of local products at its stand this year. At the chain's stand there will also be several tastings made with local products, offering visitors to try some glasses of mole eggs on Saturday and on Sunday some La Aldea tomato and Canarian cheese zuritos.

 

The group of Canarian merchants will contribute during Saturday to the development of the fair with the gastronomic exhibition “Gran Canaria tastes like cheese”, led by Canarian chef Lolo Román, who will show the preparation of Canarian cheeses in fondue with skewers. of vegetables, Rissoto with four cheeses from Gran Canaria with rosemary and palm honey and Cheesecake 'that tastes like a kiss' at 12.00:5 p.m. in pavilion XNUMX of Infecar.
