The 23rd edition of 'Maspalomas Pride by Freedom' begins this Thursday , May 2nd, with the celebration of various cultural and sporting activities and the start of the massive galas on the stage of Plaza del Yumbo, which will be broadcast from Friday onwards via streaming on the YouTube channel and Instagram.
Most of the events and shows will be free and the Galas Next to the Plaza del Yumbo stage, two giant screens will be installed so that the public can enjoy the show in which, every night, singers, dancers, drag performers and around thirty DJs will participate. from Ireland, Brazil, Switzerland, Venezuela, Portugal, Colombia, Italy, United Kingdom, Germany and Spain.

On the first day of this year's event, themed 'Not a Step Back!' , the ' Sowing Beauty in Your Square Meter' T-shirt exhibition will open at 10:00 AM in the Yumbo Tourist Information Center. The exhibition features around thirty T-shirts with designs by Brian Díaz, the father of a transgender child, and texts written by Eva Pascual Rodríguez, a coach and speaker specializing in supporting families with transgender children and adolescents, and founder of Chrysallis Canarias.
At 11:00 AM, a talk for secondary school students from San Bartolomé de Tirajana will begin in the tent set up in Plaza del Yumbo. Titled "Shall We Talk About Who We Are and Who We Love? " , the talk will feature testimonies from Álvaro Martín, a trans activist, and Brian Díaz, who will share their experiences. Later that afternoon, at 19:00 PM, Kayla Casanova will present her biography, "Bitter Land," in the same tent. The event will be hosted by Eva Pascual. Kayla Casanova is an artistic director, actress, model, former dancer and choreographer, and ceramics teacher. She was born in Italy but has lived in southern Gran Canaria for over 25 years.
In the afternoon, at 17:00 PM, the competitions of the third edition of the Maspalomas Padel Tournament for Diversity will begin, with the participation of more than 160 athletes from Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, the Canary Islands, and Italy. This event is organized by the Canary Islands Padel Federation. From 22:00 PM onwards, music and dance will take center stage at the first Gala on the Yumbo Plaza stage, featuring DJ Carlos Salinas.
Program for Friday, May 3
The events on Friday, May 3rd, will begin at 17:00 PM with a snack and storytelling session for the whole family in Yumbo Square. África Arencibia, Miss Ceuta and the first trans woman to win the 'From the Ground Up' beauty pageant, will participate with her social project 'Metamorphosis,' and she also achieved 12th place in the 2014 RNB Spain competition. Families from Chrysallis Canarias will also be present.
At 19:00 p.m., a Round Table will begin with the testimony of people who will tell their experience about the 10 years of activism in the Canary Islands, with the participation of Brian Díaz, Peter de Jesús, psychologist and professor at the Fernando Pessoa University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and one of the best Spanish teachers, and Eva Pascual.
At 22:00 PM, the Welcome Gala, sponsored by Podium Scandinavia, will begin on the Yumbo stage, featuring performances by the Baracoa carnival group, Dúo Fénix, Genene, and Matt Terry (UK). Music will be provided from 23:59 PM by DJs Jonay BJ and Carlos Salinas.
Program for the weekend
The events on Saturday, May 4th, will begin with a pool party at the Axel Beach Maspalomas Hotel, featuring DJs Iván Pequeño, Carlos Salinas, and San Keyton (Brazil). At 17:00 PM, the final of the Maspalomas for Diversity Padel Tournament will be held at the Gloria Palace Hotel courts in San Agustín.
The Yumbo Gala ( 21:00 PM), sponsored by Turismo Islas Canarias, will be dedicated to Canary Islands Night, featuring performances by Rubén Dizá, Free Vogue, and Canarian singers Thania Gil and Jia Miles. The early morning session will be enlivened by Brazilian DJs Van Müller and San Keryton.
On Sunday, May 5th , the Charity Gala, sponsored by the Hotel Fahana, will be held. It will be presented by Roberto Herrera and Jia Miles and will feature performances by the comparsa Baracoa (Canary Islands), Gangsters Duo (United Kingdom), Gio Box (Italy), Ballet Flamenco Fuego, and the singer Dunia.
The Fredoom LGBT Maspalomas Association has organized a Solidarity Food Collection Campaign for the 'Karuna' Association that helps many families in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The Freedom LGBT Maspalomas Association will double the number of kilos of food collected.
