The town of Aldea Blanca celebrates its patron saint festivities from May 10 to 19, with the proclamation by Manuel Matos of the Bejeque Group
The town of Aldea Blanca celebrates its Patron Saint Festivities from May 10 to 19 in honor of the Virgin of Fátima. The festivities organized by the AAVV Famara Festival Commission and with the collaboration of the Department of Celebrations and Events of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council will be inaugurated on the 10th, with the proclamation by Manolo Acosta, a member of the Grupo Bejeque Folkloric Group , a formation that has stood out for the empowerment of the Canarian identity through popular music and the rescue of traditions. After the proclamation, a night of Canarian music will be held by Bejeque and the party Kaly Canto.
The weekend of May 11 and 12 will begin with the Offering Pilgrimage in honor of the Virgin of Fátima where timples, guitars, lutes and Canarian songs from the attending pilgrims will accompany the carts that will begin their traditional journey at 19:00 p.m. hours. The offering will be made in the square to end the day with the festival by Yeray Socorro. On Sunday, the Bajada de la Cal will take place, a fun gathering where villagers throw flour at each other while dancing through the town.
The children's pilgrimage for the students of the CEIP Aldea Blanca will begin on Monday the 13th at 11:00 a.m., and will continue with the ringing of bells at 12:00 p.m. In the afternoon, at 19:30 p.m., the mass and procession will take place in honor of the Virgin of Fátima through the main streets of the town; and the night will conclude with the festival by Demelza and Santi. The following days, from Tuesday to Thursday, different events will take place such as the Children's Festival, the People's Night and the Senior's Day (Thursday the 16th, at 20:00 p.m.) with the festival enlivened by Nueva Imagen and its Bandurria.
The last weekend will be full of performances and festivals. It will begin on Friday the 17th with the Soloists Meeting organized by Asentaos y Tumbaos, and will continue with the festival by Estrella Latina. The next day, the day begins with the Clay Pigeon Shooting championship, the children's party with water mats; and from 22:30 p.m., the performance of Los Salvapantallas, fireworks, and the dawn festival with the groups Revelación and Star Music. The end of the party will come on Sunday, with the mass and procession in honor of the Virgin of Fátima, the festival of the soljero with Armonía Show and Leyenda Joven; and on Monday, the Mass for All the Dead will put an end to the celebration of the religious events of the village festivals.
