The cultural association receives congratulations from the local authorities, while its president, David Castellano, thanks the people of Ingenio “for loving us so much”
The Government Council of the Canary Islands approved this Monday, April 29, to award thirteen Canary Islands Gold Medals in 2024 in recognition to people or entities for their work for the benefit of Canarian society. One of the entities that will receive the Gold Medal will be the Cultural Association Coros y Danzas de Ingenio. The distinctions will be awarded at the official Canary Islands Day ceremony, on May 30.
The mayor of Villa de Ingenio, Vanesa Martín, wanted to congratulate this leading cultural association of the municipality for this great recognition. “When I talk about Choirs and Dances what I feel is history, culture, memories, union, discipline, perseverance, perseverance, camaraderie, love for this municipality. I want to congratulate Coros y Danzas de Ingenio for obtaining the Canary Islands Gold Medal since throughout all its generations it has contributed with its work and effort to maintaining our traditions. Thank you,” the councilor said.
The Councilor for Culture, Sebastián Suárez, added to these congratulations, who also recalled that this recognition coincides with the 75th anniversary of this association, an entire career “fighting to preserve what is ours, altruistically so that our traditions are not lost,” He said, adding that it is an award “more than deserved for their fight, for taking care of our traditions and for everything they do for this town. We are very lucky to have a cultural association that takes care of our traditions and that in turn carries the name of Ingenio around the world with pride. They are a hallmark, they are companions, they are friends, they are Ingenuity,” he commented.
David Castellano, president of Coros y Danzas de Ingenio, expressed his gratitude for all the love received, emphasizing that this Gold Medal “holds many hearts; It is a recognition of an entire people for the way in which they pamper their traditions.” He also had words of gratitude to the people present, but especially to those absent, and to all those who “have valued the degree of excellence that all the activities have had throughout the history of the institution, a history that has been traversed by overwhelming personalities, defending values, mainly with an ethnographic and folkloric nature, which is what has transcended to this day.” “I am grateful, although I do not sincerely feel that I have the authority to congratulate my own colleagues, for that unwavering strength that they have had in being part of this group directly or indirectly to form the institution that it is today,” he continued.
Castellano has also stated that they had been “pleasantly surprised by the distinction of the Canary Islands 2024 Gold Medal. It fills us with pride and satisfaction to see ourselves awarded with such a high honor and we want to thank the Government of the Canary Islands for having recognized our work, perseverance and commitment to our community".
