Thousands of people from different countries gathered this Friday to enjoy the 'Welcome to Pride' Gala, sponsored by Podium Scandinavia, presented by Rubén Dizá and Jia Miles, who encouraged the public in Spanish and English, and proceeded to read of the Proclamation of 2024, with which the organization of this international event, Freedom Asociación LGTB Maspalomas, highlighted that the Maspalomas Pride “has become one of the most demanding acts of the LGTBi+ community in Spain.”

The first performance featured the Comparsa Baracoa, to continue with the songs of the Fenix Duo, the singer Genene and Mat Terry, winner of The X Factor in the United Kingdom.

The highlight of the night was the Reading of the Proclamation of this edition of Maspalomas Pride, which reminded us that the motto of this edition, 'Not one step back!', are more than just a few words, “it is a firm commitment to our freedom and our dignity. We are here to celebrate love and inclusion, but also to remember that we will not tolerate any rollback of our rights. Above all, when we have fought so hard to move towards equality, justice and for our rights. We see how certain political parties and movements try to destabilize the foundations of our Democracy and undermine the rights for which we have fought so hard, that is why we say together, Not a step back! “We will not allow hatred or intolerance to gain ground, neither here nor anywhere in the world.”

In its second part, the Proclamation pointed out that “this Maspalomas Pride is a demonstration of our strength and our unity. Every person, every story, every life is a testimony of resistance and hope. If we want, together we are unstoppable. Together we will continue to march forward with pride and hearts full of love and solidarity. Let us raise our flags higher than ever, let us sing, dance and celebrate who we are and remember every day and in every action, to defend our rights and those who will come because the path to equality does not allow setbacks. Just steps forward to where we are all truly free and respected.”
