Operation STAWRAS”, resulted in three people being arrested and the seizure of

The Civil Guard of Puerto Rico-Mogán, within the framework of operation STAWRAS, arrested on April 29, 2024 a 23-year-old man with no police record who ran a cannabis club located in the town of Puerto Rico, and two others. 29-year-old and 22-year-old men, both with previous police records, as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health.


The Civil Guard began the investigation after launching the Strategic Police Response Plan for Retail Drug Consumption and Trafficking in areas, places and leisure venues of the Ministry of the Interior, with the aim of responding to the request made by businessmen in the sector. of the inn linked to the tourism sector motivated by the presence of individuals who traffic drugs at “retail” in the vicinity of their establishments.

 

During the investigations, the agents were able to verify how a large number of people, mainly foreign tourists with short stays in Gran Canaria, went to a cannabis club where after staying a few minutes, they would leave the interior carrying narcotic substances such as marijuana.

 

This cannabis club was advertised on internet search engines and had its own profile on social networks, where the opening hours were indicated, it had reviews made by clients, as well as explanatory videos of the exact location of the premises where it carried out its activities. .

 

In addition, it was possible to verify how two young people linked to the sale of retail drugs, allegedly, carried out functions of recruiting clients for the cannabis club, taking those recruited clients to the club itself, accessing the interior with them, to go out to the few minutes leaving the aforementioned clients inside the club. Once the buyers, mainly tourists, left, the recruiters returned to the club alone, presumably to receive the compensation stipulated for that
service.


Investigations collected


Once the alleged illicit activity of the cannabis club was detected, which would have become a distribution point for narcotic substances, instead of an establishment where substances derived from cannabis were consumed by a group of people linked to an association, an investigation was carried out. establish preventive devices in order to obtain evidence of the sale of these substances and the activity of attracting clients for said establishment, which gave positive results when several tourists were identified carrying alleged marijuana acquired at the cannabis club.


Once the investigations were completed, the Civil Guard informed the competent Judicial Authority of their results, requesting an entry and search at the headquarters of the cannabis club and arresting the people linked to the alleged crime. investigated.


For this reason, the person in charge of the establishment was arrested when he was about to enter it and the premises were searched, where 13 chocolate cakes made with alleged marijuana that lacked labeling, a list of ingredients and allergens were seized. , as well as a health record for its production and sale, seventeen manufactured cigarettes made with alleged marijuana, 732,8 grams of marijuana buds of up to twenty different varieties, 420 euros in fractional currency, mainly 5-euro bills, and various documentation.

 

The detainees and the seized substances and effects were made available to the competent Investigative Court of San Bartolomé de Tirajana together with the police report prepared.
