The works have a cost of 686.000 euros. The Sports Councilor agrees with both clubs that they start on the football field of the seaside town to prevent the two teams and their subsidiaries from being left without a playing field at the same time.

The Department of Sports of the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, directed by the fourth deputy mayor Ramón Suárez Ojeda, has been proceeding for about two weeks to renew the artificial grass and the irrigation system of the municipal stadium of Castillo del Romeral. At its end they will begin immediately at the Juan Grande stadium. The works have a global cost of just over €686.000.

Before the start of the works and at the request of the Councilor for Sports, Ramón Suárez, the directors of the two football clubs agreed to establish a calendar for shared use of the facilities and stagger the works in the two stadiums with the aim of preventing their respective teams and affiliate chains will be left without a playing field at the same time.

The works on both soccer fields, which also involve the complete renovation of the two irrigation systems, are funded by the Cabildo through its Investment Program for the Social and Economic Reactivation of the Island. They were announced in public bidding in two different lots last November through the State Contracting Platform, with a budget of €552.216,60 for the equipment of the Castle and €319.043,24 for that of Juan Grande. Ten companies offered to hire him.

The works to renew the irrigation and the 8.588 m² of synthetic green in the stadium of the coastal town, already quite advanced since the lifting operations of all the previous grass have been completed, were awarded for a total of €430.691,87 to the temporary union of companies (Ute) formed by Fieldturf Poligras SA and Royalverd Service SLU, while the works on the Juan Grande stadium, with a 7.072 m² playing field, were awarded to the entity Equipur Canarias SL for 255.323,56 €. In this procedure, the City Council has achieved savings of just over €185.244. The Department of Sports has already requested the City Council to make the remaining economic resources available to allocate it to the rehabilitation and improvement of other sports facilities in the municipality, and is waiting for its proposal to be accepted.

Essential task

In addition to the renewal of the grass, the replacement of the irrigation networks in the two stadiums has also been considered an essential task, since many of the existing perimeter and interior sprinklers in both football fields had been broken for many years and had not functioned at all. . In both El Castillo and Juan Grande, six irrigation cannons will now be installed along the perimeter of the fields, and in both facilities all pipes and pumping and drainage systems will be renewed.
