Dácil Santana Friday, May 17, 2024

The hotel investment arm of Bankinter will maintain control of the Meliá hotel located in San Agustín, in the south of Gran Canaria, after Atom Hoteles Socimi announced this Thursday the sale of the Hotel Labranda Costa Mogán, a 4-star asset and 125 rooms, to the H10 Hoteles chain, which will become the new operator. The hotel, acquired by the Bankinter Investment and GMA vehicle, in 2019, opened, after a comprehensive renovation, in 2021. The Hotel Labranda Costa Mogán was the vacation hotel with the smallest number of rooms in the Atom Hotels portfolio, although it has a tourist location on the front line of Playa del Cura, Mogán, in Gran Canaria. In three years the bank has sold off the hotel.

The renovation of the hotel, led by GMA Corporate as manager of the Socimi, Patricia Galdón's studio, and the Meeting Point group (FTI), was awarded at the time and the hotel and asset achieved the energy letter B certificate, and was They installed clean energy centers, such as solar thermal panels that serve the hotel. In this sense, H10 Hotels, the new operator and owner of the asset, acquires a renovated hotel.

GMA Corporate wanted to “thank Meeting Point for the mutual collaboration throughout this process”, as well as “the commitment and professionalism” shown in recent years. Likewise, GMA Corporate points out that it is proud “to have been able to participate in this purchase, transformation and repositioning project in which we have consolidated the hotel as a first-class destination on the island of Gran Canaria. Looking to the future, both the destination and this particular asset will continue to be a benchmark for sustainable and committed tourism.”

Atom is the first SOCIMI that owns hotels in Spain, an alternative investment vehicle focused on the hotel sector, promoted by Bankinter Investment in January 2018 together with the real estate asset manager GMA, and which, as of today, after the two capital increases carried out, has attracted almost 800 shareholders. Its strategy has been based on building a portfolio of four- and five-star urban and vacation hotels, in priority destinations and leased on a long-term basis to top-level national and international operators and independent hoteliers. Currently, ATOM's portfolio consists of 27 establishments, with a total of 6.463 rooms, with an estimated asset value of more than 950 million euros.
