Nine associations of mothers and fathers of students in the municipality receive aid from the Department of Education for educational activities and participation in public training centers
The Department of Education of the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has already resolved and processed the subsidies for the 2023-2024 school year intended for the Associations of Mothers and Fathers of Students (AMPAs) of the public educational centers of the municipality.
These aid included in the Strategic Subsidy Plan of the City Council chaired by Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez for the 2024 budget year were convened by law under a competitive concurrence regime on February 8, and were published both on the municipal website and in the Official Bulletin of the Province.
The payment of the subsidies through banking entities was processed since last Thursday, May 9, and according to the resolution of the Department of Education directed by the second deputy mayor, Elena Álamo Vega, and coordinated by the councilor delegate Esther Delgado Sánchez, the beneficiaries have been the associations of parents of students from the CEIPs of Juan Grande, Aldea Blanca, El Tablero, Las Dunas and Pepe Monagas, also those of the CEOs of Tunte and Pancho Guerra of Castillo del Romeral, and the of the Támara and Faro Secondary Schools in Maspalomas.
In this edition, as in the two previous years, the budget item for subsidies to the AMPAs was estimated at 12.000 euros. In accordance with the legal competitive bidding procedure, the 9 subsidized associations received 8.967,53 euros in total. In 2022, 9 applications were submitted and 8 grants were awarded, and in 2023, 10 were submitted and all ten were subsidized.
The councilor responsible for the municipal area of Education and Culture, Elena Álamo Vega, recalls that “these subsidies were processed through a public call on a competitive basis and guaranteeing the principles of publicity and objectivity, to contribute to projects of educational and recreational activities aimed at the students within the framework of commemorations of relevant dates or events linked to the educational center and its social environment, and also for training activities and participation of mothers and fathers in the educational life of the centers.
For these subsidies, applications for trips, parties, festivals and beauty pageants or similar were excluded, as well as those activities that pursued a lucrative purpose or that could directly or indirectly incite the development of addictive behaviors.
