The world champion Fabricio Werdum teaches his wrestling teaching in El Tablero and Maspalomas

 

The famous and award-winning Spanish-Brazilian jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts fighter Fabricio Werdum gave a masterclass on grappling, MMA and BJJ this Wednesday, May 15, at the Club Werdum Maspalomas facilities and in the El Tablero Sports City pavilion. 

 

These master wrestling sessions were organized by the Werdum Maspalomas Club and had the collaboration of the Sports Department of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council directed by the fourth deputy mayor Ramón Suárez Ojeda.

 

 

 

 

The seminar given by the legendary wrestler born in Porto Alegre in 1977, son of a Spanish mother, took place in a double schedule of morning and afternoon in order to be able to meet with guarantees the demand for improvement of more than fifty athletes from the municipality practicing jiu- jitsu and mixed martial arts.

 

Councilman Ramón Suárez came to the El Tablero Sports City to greet and share opinions with the three-time jiu-jitsu and two-time grappling world champion, whose international recognition as the UFC heavyweight champion helped drive the introduction of the mixed martial arts in Spain. 

 

 

 

 

“The practice of contact sports, which require a lot of technique and a great spirit of improvement, is experiencing a considerable increase in followers around the world. Also in this municipality, which has numerous athletes of all ages and from very early ages,” both Fabricio and the Sports councilor agreed to point out.

 

The master session that Fabricio Werdum offered this Tuesday, sponsoring with his active participation the sports management of the Club Werdum Maspalomas directed by José Fernández, is not the first one he has held in this municipality, since he already did it before about seven years ago. 

 

Werdum also took advantage of this visit to the Island to offer another masterclass last Monday at the training center that he sponsors in the capital of Gran Canaria. The Spanish-Brazilian athlete recognizes that in Gran Canaria he feels “at home”, and praises the fighting level that the island athletes are acquiring.
