The Tourist Board and the Ingenio City Council have collaborated on a project to beautify the destination and the tourist environment to dress the walls of the 'Pancho Ramírez' soccer field, with an artistic intervention by the CNFSN+ group
The Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo, was received this Friday, November 19, by the mayor of Villa de Ingenio, Ana Hernández, and the Councilor for Tourism, Pilar Arbelo, along with part of his team. government, with the aim of visiting the artistic intervention carried out on the wall of the 'Pancho Ramírez' football field by the CNFSN+ group, composed of Felo Monzón and Tono Cruz, in collaboration with the two administrations and in order to contribute beautification of the destination and the tourist environment.
The Minister of Tourism explained that this initiative arose with the participation of the Tourism Board in the Intersectoral Landscape Commission of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, and that it responds to the objective, included in the statutes of the Board, of executing programs on issues of urban planning, beautification of the tourist and environmental environment and preparation of specific proposals to island institutions and organizations in these matters.
In it, it was proposed as one of the actions to be carried out for the landscape recovery of the surroundings of GC.1, the conditioning of the wall of the 'Pancho Ramírez' soccer field, which was in a situation “that could be improved and, at the same time At the same time, it was considered that it is located in an area with a notable visual impact, both from vehicles on the highway and from planes passing through landing maneuvers. At that time we considered it appropriate to collaborate between the two administrations to provide this space with a powerful visual element with prominence for the Gran Canaria tourism brand,” stated Carlos Álamo; and added that “when it was taken over by the Tourist Board, the design was proposed as a decorative mural, which is why the artistic group CNFSN+, formed by Antonio Cruz and Felo Monzón, was contacted.
The first councilor of Ingenio explained that "this area is going to gain a special charm, not only because of the sports and family aspect, but also because of the tourist level, and will gain significance with the attached park project that is being carried out."
Ana Hernández, who was accompanied by the Councilor for Tourism, Pilar Arbelo; the Sports Councilor, Mario Ramírez; the Councilor for Urban Planning, Victoria Santana; and the municipal architect, Beatriz Manzano, recognized that “a wonderful space has been left with the image and colors of the island of Gran Canaria.”
Felo Monzón, representative of the CNFSN+ group, explained that “the pictorial intervention in the Pancho Ramírez soccer stadium in El Carrizal is linked to the positive expressions that sport generates as a model of coexistence. It is a mural to be seen from the GC-1 highway or when we travel from a plane when we arrive in Gran Canaria and we have raised these large colorful portraits that outline smiles, to remind us that sport causes us physical health, but also mental health.
Finally, the Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria thanked the great interest shown by the entire team responsible for this landscape intervention. “I would like to highlight our most sincere gratitude to the Ingenio City Council, which has been involved from the first moment, demonstrating great enthusiasm on the part of everyone who has participated, from the mayor, Ana Hernández, and the Councilor for Tourism, Pilar Arbelo , as well as the architect Beatriz Manzano and the technician María del Pino Medina.
