The Department of the Presidency provides the three documentary repositories of the Municipal Archive with new manual mobile compact modules with hermetic closure to preserve the historical and administrative documentation of this municipality against fire and humidity. With this acquisition, estimated at approximately €99.644, the process of protecting the Municipal Archive that Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez himself began in 2011 is completed.

The City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has completed the technical work aimed at protecting the material security of all the historical and modern documentation generated by its administration and currently kept in the Municipal Archive located in the basement of the Municipal Offices of San Fernando de Tirajana. Maspalomas.

Although the City Council is immersed in a technological innovation procedure to implement its electronic administration with the complete digitization of all administrative procedures and the gradual reduction of the use of paper in all its daily actions, currently the documentary files protected in the Archive would occupy an area of almost 8,5 kilometers and a growth forecast of about 50 linear meters of new documentation per year is maintained.

To guarantee the safe conservation of all this existing documentation, from the first plenary minute of February 6, 1870 until now, as well as the next one, the Department of the Presidency directed by the second deputy mayor Elena Álamo Vega has completed the installation of new mobile compacts in which a public investment of 99.644 euros has been made. Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez supervised the completion of the installation this Monday.

“These new elements intended to guard the memory and rights of the neighborhood of this municipality are specially designed and prepared to guarantee, through their hermetic closure, the protection of documents against water and fire and, in addition, also against bibliophagous insect pests. ”says Elena Álamo.

The first manual mobile compact modules were installed in 2011 and occupied the entire surface of document warehouse 3 and half of 2, which until then operated with metal shelving. The storage capacity forecast that was formulated for these was 12 years, and it has already been fulfilled. They were dedicated to the custody of the existing documentation in the intermediate file and in the office file in addition to the new ones that were generated.

The new modules installed in warehouses 0, 1 and 2 will allow the custody of a total of 9.594 special boxes for archiving files and 273 old municipal books on statistical and economic matters.

“This modular acquisition benefits the installation of documentation, increases the effectiveness of the Document and Archive Management Service (SGDyA) and contributes to unifying all municipal documentation in a single space to guarantee its security and optimal conservation,” says Elena Álamo Vega. .
