They beat Socuma Maspalomas on points in a tight final that ended with a three-way tie
Costa Maspalomas, champion of the last Insular League, finished in third position, ahead of Faro Dunas
The San Fernando de Maspalomas festivities have recovered the town's traditional team domino tournament, in an evening in which the San Porruño Maspalomas team, led by José Socorro Ramírez, was proclaimed champion.
This championship, which incomprehensibly stopped being held for many years as Socorro Ramírez laments, was played as a friendly quadrangular on 16 tables, with the games being played to 400 points. The tournament was played outdoors between 19:00 p.m. and 22:00 p.m., at the Municipal Petanque Court facilities, where numerous fans gathered.
In addition to the winner San Porruño, Costa Maspalomas participated in the evening, led by Roberto Ribero Rodríguez, a team that will compete in the Spanish Championship in La Palma in November after being crowned first place in the Insular League against Santiago Apóstol Gáldar (5-7 and 9-3); and the Socuma Maspalomas formations, led by Daniel Rodríguez Vega, a team that placed sixth in the island competition; and the Faro-Dunas, commanded by Juan Melián Suárez.
In the festive final in Maspalomas, which concluded with a tight three-way tie, San Porruño ended up winning and beating Socuma Maspalomas by 90 average score. Costa Maspalomas and Faro Dunas finished in third and fourth position, respectively.
The celebration and recovery this year of the domino tournament of the San Fernando Festival was an initiative in which Daniel Rodríguez Vega and the leader of San Porruño were actively involved, with the intention of continuing it in future editions.
The intervention and mediation of the Sports Department headed by the fourth deputy mayor Ramón Suárez Ojeda, who wanted to attend the sporting event as a neighbor and spectator and ended up officiating the delivery of the donated trophies, was also decisive in the recovery of this domino quadrangle. by the city council together with his government colleagues Alejandro Marichal and Ruymán Cardoso López.
