Two people arrested for selling drugs at retail in leisure areas of Mogán

In a first action, a person was arrested who was surprised in the vicinity of a well-known shopping center in Puerto Rico who was selling hashish.

The second arrest was made in one of the marinas in the town of Puerto Rico, when after trying to flee from the agents who caught him trafficking, 24 white plastic wrappers containing a total of 14 grams of cocaine were seized.

 

The Civil Guard of Gran Canaria, within the framework of the RUNSQUID investigation, has arrested two people on May 15 and 21 as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health.

 

The investigation was initiated by the Puerto Rico-Mogán Civil Guard after collecting information about the people linked to the retail sale of drugs in the places where it was going to take place, thus knowing the procedure and places where the investigation took place. activity of these and times with greater criminal activity.

 

Drug trafficking and sale of hashish

 

The first arrest took place on May 15, a 22-year-old man with a diverse police record was detained, as a result of one of the surveillance operations, the investigators observed how one of the people linked with the sale of drugs at retail, he met with two young boys who looked like tourists in the vicinity of a well-known shopping center in the town of Puerto Rico, carrying out an exchange between them before separating.

 

Immediately, suspecting that an exchange of narcotic substances for money had taken place, the Civil Guard intercepted the buyers, from whom a plastic bag with suspected hashish was seized, a fact that was verified by identifying the seller who was carrying in one of his pockets a plastic bag containing hashish with identical characteristics to the one seized from the buyers and 55 euros in bills of different values.

 


Sale of cocaine in the marina


The second arrest occurred on May 21, 2024, in one of the marinas in the town of Puerto Rico, a place where a discreet surveillance device had been established after analyzing the data collected and detecting that there could be selling narcotic substances to, among other people, tourists who frequent that place for maritime excursions, sport fishing or other recreational activities.

 

During the monitoring, it was observed how the alleged seller entered the port area on a motorcycle and met with a woman with whom he had an exchange, at which point they were surprised by a Civil Guard patrol.


At that moment, when he was required to stop the vehicle and request documentation, he violently threw his helmet at one of the agents and fled unsuccessfully in the direction of the interior of the Marina, where he was intercepted. and being the interception of the fugitive and his arrest as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of serious disobedience to an agent of the Authority and attack. Once at the police station and upon carrying out a superficial search of the detainee and his belongings, a plastic bag containing 24 white plastic wrappers containing a total of 14 grams of alleged cocaine was found hidden among his clothes.

 

These actions carried out by the Civil Guard are included in the Strategic Plan for Police Response to Retail Drug Consumption and Trafficking in areas, places and leisure venues of the Ministry of the Interior, with the aim of responding to the presence of individuals who traffic drugs. to “retail” in areas with a large influx of people, tourist places and nightlife areas.

 

The detainees, the narcotic substances and the seized money were made available to the competent Investigative Court of San Bartolomé de Tirajana together with the police reports prepared.
