The province of Las Palmas was the fourth where Alvise Pérez's party obtained the most votes at the national level
After the electoral hangover of the European Parliament elections, it is time to take stock. These European elections in which the former president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, stated that “the Canary Islands were the community with the most at stake” completely shook the continental political table.
The dissolution of the courts and the calling of elections in France, the resignation of De Croo in Belgium or the resignation of Yolanda Díaz as leader of Sumar are just some examples of what the day after the European elections has given.
However, at the national level the biggest surprise has been the emergence of the group “The party is over” with three MEPs. The party, led by Alvise Pérez (related in the past to UPyD and Ciudadanos), did not have an electoral program and based its campaign on the promise of uncovering cases of corruption, creating a mega prison and imprisoning Pedro Sánchez there, or raffle among his followers the salary of their leader if he entered the European Parliament.
A strategy that they spread through social networks (especially on Telegram, the "official" channel of the formation) and that has helped them obtain three seats, the same as Sumar and one more than Podemos.
Results that exceed those predicted by the polls, which placed it with a maximum of 2 seats in the days before the elections. According to several analysts, the more than 800.000 votes obtained by the party do not come from the PP or Vox, but rather the party has been fueled by abstentionism.
An abstention that, once again, was the protagonist with 51% at the national level, certifying the current disenchantment and disinterest of citizens with political life.
In the Canary Islands, “Se Acabó La Fiesta” found a stronghold in the province of Las Palmas, being the fourth nationally where the group registered the most votes with 6,73%; only behind Ceuta, Málaga and Almería.
If we expand at the municipal level, Santa Lucía de Tirajana stands out within the island with 7,99% of votes for Alvise, only behind Valsequillo with 8,25%. San Bartolomé de Tirajana was above the regional average, registering 7,1%. Within the Southeastern Commonwealth, Agüimes and Ingenio registered similar percentages with 7,4 and 7,44% respectively. Mogán, for its part, reached 7,68%.
Although at the regional level the big surprise was found in the Majorero municipality of Betancuria, where Alvise's training registered 13,72%, one of the most outstanding percentages at the national level.
