The most recognized tourist area in Spain and part of Europe changed its preferences in these European elections
In these European elections, Playa del Inglés recorded one of those curious cases that for any political scientist serves as an object of analysis and study on voting trends. The area, the economic engine of the island and the archipelago, made a big change in these European elections compared to those of 2019, going from having the PSOE as the majority force to having the PP.
A turn accompanied by other changes within the municipality, but that stands out in this area due to the difference in results obtained by both forces in these 5 years. In the 2019 European elections, the PSOE moved between 25 and 30% of votes in the area, with the Popular Party as the second force with a maximum difference of 8%.
However, this 2024 the change has been radical and the popular ones registered between 30 and 40% of votes, registering an increase of almost 10% in 5 years. For its part, the fall of the PSOE places them as the second force with a percentage of votes between 28 and 29%.
Vox remains the third force and Sumar takes the place of Podemos, which was the fourth force in 2019, thus demonstrating the area's harmony with the national political trend.
