The south of Gran Canaria, the area where the greatest economic activity in the Canary Islands is generated, expects to receive around 4,5 million visitors to Maspalomas during the summer of 2024, making it a record year. This represents an increase of 10% compared to 2023. The factors driving this growth include an increase in air connectivity, with 17% more seats available, strong demand from the national market, with specific campaigns to attract peninsular tourists.
Gran Canaria Tourism has registered a 20% increase in reservations from German tour operators for this summer. Everything indicates that the upward trend of 2023 will continue in the present 2024, in which almost 100.000 clients have been recovered, with an increase in German visitors compared to the previous year of 2023 with Gran Canaria that ensures both for the summer, a more complex time for island destinations due to competition from closer destinations, such as next winter when it will once again be the preferred destination of Germans.
