Three men arrested for attempted murder with brutal assault on a farm in Mogán

The Civil Guard of Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria arrested three men of different nationalities on May 30 and 31, 2024 as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of attempted homicide, robbery with violence and intimidation in an inhabited house, possession illicit weapons and drug trafficking when robbing a farm in the municipality of Mogán with the aim of stealing money and valuables using a firearm, an iron chain and knives.

The Civil Guard became aware of the events on May 24, 2024 following the activation of the emergency services that went to the property to assist the victim after the assault on the property occurred. The victim would be evacuated in an ambulance to the Hospital that, after being treated for her injuries, would file a complaint at the Civil Guard Barracks. On the day of the events, three men broke into a farm, attacking the owner, hitting him with fists, kicks and a chain. One of the assailants pointed a firearm at the victim in the chest to get him to hand over the money he had on the property. The owner's grandson and a second man who lived on the farm and performed the duties of caretaker were present at the farm, who, fearing for the child's life, protected him with his body while he tried to flee into the house.

 

 

 

 

However, the assailant who was carrying the firearm would grab him by the neck and, placing the barrel of the gun in his side, would force him to enter the house in search of money, trying to immobilize the owner with a rope, who defended himself and He resisted his attackers until they threw him down a 15-meter-long slope, leaving the victim unconscious and lying behind a tree after hitting his head. The assailants who stole 350 euros and others quickly fled the scene in a vehicle to avoid being surprised by the Civil Guard.

The Civil Guard of Puerto Rico began an investigation in order to determine the identification of the alleged perpetrators based on interviews, interrogations and various investigations that confirmed the facts reported by the victim.

 

The data collected by the Judicial Police Team in the first actions of the investigation allowed us to know the identity of the three assailants, based on the statements of the witnesses and those affected, together with the results of the operations and other elements of evidence discovered during the investigation.

 

Background of the detainees, active and dangerous

 

The Civil Guard verified that this was a very dangerous group due to the nature of the events and the background of the detainees, since one of them was known to the island's Security Forces for having numerous police records for violent and criminal crimes. drug traffic.

 

This individual was wanted by units of the Civil Guard and National Police to proceed with his arrest and investigation for crimes of injuries, road safety and public order who, upon being located on several occasions by different police forces to try to proceed with his arrest for causes police pending, the individual began his escape driving a vehicle at high speed, putting the lives and safety of citizens in serious danger.

 

 

 

 

Operation, entry and registration phase

 

Given the nature of the events and the background of the alleged perpetrators, the Civil Guard organized two special operational devices to locate and arrest the three assailants.

 

In one of the special devices, two of the assailants were arrested when they were traveling with a vehicle and after a meticulous controlled follow-up to prevent them from fleeing after detecting the police presence, a homemade firearm hidden in a flower pot was seized after these arrests. in the vicinity of the home of one of them.

 

The third and most dangerous assailant of the group, who used a firearm on the property, was located at his home, proceeding to carry out an entry and search on May 31 at his home with the USECIC, a specialized unit of the Las Palmas Command. specialized in carrying out entries and arrests of dangerous people. In this search, the arrest of the last of the assailants was carried out, seizing 1,3 kilos of hashish, 15 grams of cocaine crystal and elements for its sale and distribution that were brought to judicial disposal along with those detained in the Court of Instruction 2 of San Bartolomé de Tirajana on guard duty, agreeing to the provisional imprisonment of the three investigated.
