The Civil Guard in Gran Canaria arrested a 3-year-old man on June 29 for committing nine crimes against property, including a robbery with force inside a home, a crime of robbery with force in interior of a vehicle, one crime of theft in a business and three crimes of theft inside vehicles, two crimes of violation of postal correspondence, for having been found in his possession bank cards in the names of several people received in their mailboxes, all of them in the municipality of Agüimes.
Knowledge of the facts
The Civil Guard became aware of the facts after receiving a complaint last April from one of the people affected by the theft of their belongings inside a business in Cruce de Arinaga, where the author would have taken advantage of a moment of carelessness to access the interior of said business and steal a bag with documentation and various belongings, taking advantage of a moment of carelessness, with the alleged perpetrator subsequently using bank cards in other businesses in the area.
The Main Post of the Civil Guard of Agüimes – Ingenio, carried out all the pertinent steps to locate the author, who was detected days later by one of its off-duty agents, near the business where he stole such belongings.
In addition, the Agüimes Local Police seized from this person a large amount of documentation and bank cards belonging to several residents of the Cruce de Arinaga area, so, once this fact was known, after carrying out the pertinent investigation by the members of the Civil Guard, other criminal acts consisting of a robbery and three thefts inside a vehicle were discovered against the detainee, taking advantage of the fact that the users had left the vehicles unlocked, to search inside and steal the seized documentation.
Part of the bank cards seized had been stolen directly from the mailboxes of several homes in the area, using them at nearby ATMs, for which he was also charged with two crimes of violation of postal correspondence.
Finally, the Civil Guard agents were aware of access to a home in Playa de Arinaga using the “slip method”, where the author used a plastic object to open the entrance door, as he was not there. duly locked, removing jewelry from inside that were later located by said agents in a Jewelry Store in the town of Agüimes, where the detainee had proceeded to sell it. The recovered jewelry was delivered to its rightful owner, who was unaware that it had been stolen.
The detainee, along with the prepared reports, was placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court as guard of those from Telde.
