The advertising company, DriiveMe, highlights among the benefits of working for the company "having a source of income, flexible hours and payment of service expenses every 10 days." All this in exchange for three requirements: being self-employed, being over 21 years old and having a driving license that has been in existence for more than three years.
But is DriiveMe a new VTC company? The short answer is no, but there are nuances. The company's main service is to move vehicles from point A to point B. That is, it is a vehicle transport company that offers its services mainly to rental companies or dealers who want to save on transporting their vehicles in cranes or trucks and assigns that service to DriiveMe.
To simplify, if you are from Mogán and you have to go to Las Palmas, you can check in the company's app if a vehicle has to cover that route and request to cover it as the driver. The interesting thing comes with the price of the service, since it only costs 1 euro and offers comprehensive insurance during the journey.
Although it may seem like a somewhat far-fetched business model, it seems to work for the company, since it has been operating in Spain for five years and now they have decided to make the leap to the Canary Islands.
But, apart from the damage that 1 euro trips can already cause for the taxi sector, the nuance of this unique business model is that the company allows car sharing, that is, operating in a certain way like a VTC. A “car sharing” model similar to that of the renowned BlaBlaCar platform, which already has a significant user base on the peninsula.
Will DriiveMe and its business model succeed in the south of Gran Canaria? At the moment, the job offer has no applicants.
