The Department of Urban Planning of the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana will submit to the consideration of the municipal plenary session the approval of the initiative of the Plan for Modernization, Improvement and Increase of Competitiveness (PMMIC) in the Area of El Veril prepared by the public entity Gesplan and that will be able to cover the development of Siam Park as well as grant the definitive license to the project, when the entire Admisnitravo process is concluded.
The preparation and processing of the new Plan provides for the development of the Equipment-free Area established by the Gran Canaria Island Plan; actions in the Public Space and the materialization of the tourist plazas derived from the execution of the aforementioned Structuring Equipment. As explained by the Urban Planning Councilor of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, Davinia Ramírez, “the proposal aims to include a tourist structuring facility that improves the existing offer and sets a benchmark within the leisure activities within the city. touristic city".
The first deputy mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Alejandro Marcihal, celebrates that “we are correcting a file poorly processed by the previous municipal government since during the PSOE/NC mandate the previous Urban Planning councilor had issued a resolution showing his conformity but the mayor's office rectified it, indicating that consent must also be given by the plenary session, a step that was never carried out.
Marichal delves into the importance of this “regulatory umbrella that will allow not only the development of Siam Park, but will also mean an investment in improving the image of the entrance to Maspalomas Costa Canaria, increasing the complementary offer and a stimulus for the creation of employment in our municipality.” For her part, the Councilor for Urban Planning, Davinia Ramírez, details that the scope of action of the PMMIC includes “the unscheduled developable land of El Veril of the General Planning Plan in force, the sections of the GC-1 and the adjacent GC – 500 , as well as the road and pedestrian connections with the tourist area.”
Regarding the line of action, the Plan will focus on objectives such as addressing actions aimed at the rehabilitation of its urban-tourist space, in the environmental, social and landscape framework so that it has an impact on an improved tourist image; define a model aimed at revitalizing the tourist city supported by the diversification of the offer and enhancement of natural resources; improve the tourism product offered through the diversification of the complementary offer, introducing new recreational activities and equipment, providing the core with greater attractiveness for tourists and complementing the “sun and beach” product; enable the creation of direct and indirect employment; enhance the creation of new businesses as well as the attraction of capital to invest and reactivate the core or provide the area with an activity center as an attracting and energizing pole, creating an urban piece that revalues the entire tourist core.
In addition, it is committed to enhancing the image at the entrance to the tourist center; facilitate the connection of the tourist center by integrating the new tourist piece into the already consolidated one; improve the articulation of the road system; design sustainable, accessible, inclusive public free spaces and promote them as places of relationship; promote the optimization of the resources of the urban fabric, through its rehabilitation, restructuring or renovation, as well as incorporate building typologies of tourist accommodation and complementary offerings in accordance with new tourism models that are more respectful of the environment; promote an adequate urban structure that integrates into the landscape or promote actions that involve the protection and revaluation of cultural heritage; among other objectives.
