The South of Gran Canaria hosts the fourth edition of the Gran Canaria International Deep Sea Fishing Open between August 29 and 31, which on this occasion is organized by the Pasito Blanco Yacht Club and the incorporation of the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce , in addition to the sponsorship of Gran Canaria Tourism and the participation of the sports docks of Puerto Rico and Mogán, along with Pasito Blanco. The contest has 35 editions since the initial proposal of the traditional fishing contest, the embryo of the current model and which was a pioneer in the concept of catch and release, converted four years ago into Open International, and hopes to surpass its participation record.

 

The Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo, reported on the news of the summer event this Wednesday at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, together with the vice president and president of the Tourism Commission of the same, Santiago de Armas; and the director of the Pasito Blanco Marina, Francisco Torres. The event allowed us to discover the poster announcing the next edition, which has been designed, for the second consecutive year, by the American journalist and 'influencer', a reference in the world of Deep Sea Fishing, Carey Chen, highlighting the tourist value it presents. the sports test.

It is an event that wants to continue growing, as it has done through the commitment of Gran Canaria Tourism and will continue to do so now also with the help of the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce. Both the Councilor and the vice president of the chamber highlighted the presence of vessels and crews from Europe and also from the United States. In this sense, Francisco Torres, director of the Pasito Blanco Marina, announced that the North American presence has been added by important personalities of sport fishing in this territory such as the artist Carey Cheng and the journalist, Bill Pino, “both They are prominent media personalities who guarantee us a greater presence and a step forward in promoting the event,” according to Torres. This revealed that the poster for the next edition is a work by Carey Cheng, who also worked on the previous one with great success and presence on social networks. 

 

In this way, once again this year, the Open International Deep Sea Fishing Gran Canaria returns to the summer calendar, during the last weekend of August, with its usual dose of happiness under the blue sky of Gran Canaria and enormous possibilities of catching, before proceeding to its regulatory release, a precious specimen of Blue Marlin, the greatest sprinter in the Atlantic Ocean. 

 

It is a unique edition, according to the organization, full of surprises and novelties, since this competition, which has consolidated its growth in recent editions under the new international nomenclature, has been 35 years since the embryo of the competition was established. same, the Pasito Blanco Deep Sea Fishing Contest, one of the first fishing championships in Europe to adopt the concept of catch and release, which was imposed on the Gran Canaria initiative even before the IGFA regulations itself required it for the international fleet.
