With a very low profile on the part of the PP, David Morales Déniz has taken office this June as a new deputy of the Popular Group in the autonomous Parliament, replacing Rosa Viera, appointed as senator for the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands. The declaration of assets has not yet been published. The socialist Gustavo Santana is the second southerner in the Parliament of the Canary Islands. The last time that someone linked to the south of Gran Canaria through his professional activity was a regional deputy occurred during the time of Fernando Toribio. In Gran Canaria the other regional deputy of the PP is Hipólito Suárez, who did not renounce his act to be a member of the Government of the Canary Islands.
The former Lopesan executive and now PP deputy for the island of Gran Canaria, and after his inauguration, has had words of gratitude for all his colleagues in the Popular Group, especially for Manuel Domínguez, vice president of the Government of the Canary Islands and regional president of the PP; for the current Minister of Education, and general secretary of his political formation in the Archipelago, Hipólito Suárez; as well as for the president of the PP of Gran Canaria, Carlos Ester.
"I assume with absolute responsibility this new challenge of representing all the people of Gran Canaria and the rest of the Canary Islands in the Autonomous Chamber, as it could not be otherwise," he indicated, stating that "I will give everything to rise to the occasion and respond to the needs of our citizens." Morales has a degree in Tourism and in Translation and Interpretation, he has 25 years of experience in the sector and came to the PP through Ciudadanos. During the years 2020 and 2021, he appeared on the list of the 150 most influential tourism professionals in Spain prepared by the consulting firm Segestur.
