In her speech, Elena Álamo said that this university not only seeks to “build loyalty in its educational commitment, but also to innovate and stay up to date, all of this, hand in hand with some institutions, such as the University of ULPGC, the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and the Government of the Canary Islands.”

From the programming of this edition, the councilor highlighted the course on the prevention of suicidal behavior among young people, "we wanted to give visibility to a worrying reality in the Canary Islands" and the conference on the Canary Islands Land Law, "a very claimed that it will invite reflection in the face of new urban challenges.”

In addition, Elena Álamo also wanted to highlight the conference on 'ASD support in natural environments', “which affects many families in this municipality”; the celebration of the international CAMP of Rotarians, which has been held for 10 years and “which turns Maspalomas into a world reference for Peace”, and the course 'Singing with your breath', “taught by an artist from this municipality, Judith Pezoa, that every year has great success among students.” Elena Álamo also referred to the important musical offering offered by the Summer University such as the Maspalomas International Trumpet Festival and the Maspalomas Costa Canaria Soul Festival.

José Miguel Álamo Mendoza highlighted that one of the objectives of the ULPGC is to promote exchange between the University and society. “Society demands more openness from us and we must follow the steps to offer themes that can help us become an intelligent society.”

For his part, Miguel Hidalgo Sánchez highlighted that the Cabildo of Gran Canaria is pleased, as every year, to participate in the Maspalomas Summer University, “for its consolidated commitment to transfer the academic offer beyond the capital's fields and for its wide offer of practical teachings. With a program that combines knowledge with skills and abilities, with special emphasis on communication, astronomy or singing.”

In his speech, the island councilor highlighted the support of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council and, at the same time, invited them to “make this International Campus that the ULPGC wants to launch a reality, with the sum of the cultural activities and the great possibilities that this environment has to develop new proposals of the highest academic level and of interest for our islands.”

The director of the Maspalomas Summer University, Guillermo Morales, highlighted that this edition offers 26 courses and workshops on different topics, some with a lot of 'social echo', such as the prevention of Juvenile Suicide in the Canary Islands or the reform, or not, of the Land Law in the Canary Islands.
