San Bartolomé de Tirajana once again reiterates its commitment to residents and tourists, becoming the municipality with the most blue flags awarded. Meloneras, Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés and San Agustín are once again awarded with this distinction, thus recognizing the environmental quality and tourist attraction of these enclaves, as well as promoting the image of the municipality internationally.
Last Wednesday, June 26, the Real Club Náutico de Tenerife (RCT) hosted the delivery of blue flags, an event promoted by the Environmental Education Foundation (FEE) with the coordination in Spain of the Environmental and Consumer Education Association ( ADEAC) to distinguish the criteria of excellence for beaches and marinas. The quality of the water, the conditions of the infrastructure or the safety of users are just some of the criteria that are evaluated to grant this recognition.
The Councilor for Tourism and Coastal Care of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, Yilenia Vega (CC) affirms that this distinction represents recognition of the work carried out to preserve the quality of coastal spaces, as well as an impulse to continue promoting the tourist attraction. On the other hand, this event not only recognizes the quality of the beaches, but also awards ports and marinas, a distinction that only 4 areas in the Canary Islands have achieved this year. The Pasito Blanco Marina has been one of the big winners, thanks to its drive for economic and tourist development, offering an attractive and functional image for nautical fans.
Likewise, recognition has also been granted to the so-called 'Blue Centers', spaces located within the Blue Flag municipalities, which can be visited by the general population and whose fundamental objective is to raise awareness about coastal ecosystems. The Tony Gallardo Park and the Maspalomas Dunes Interpretation Center have been recognized for their work in protecting coastal spaces.
For his part, the first deputy mayor of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, Alejandro Marichal (CC), celebrates that the municipality has once again recovered the insignia of excellence on the coasts, a work that will be reinforced with the reform and improvement works of accessibility to the coast, with 32 planned actions worth 7,6 million euros, which will begin in September of this year.
