The island of Gran Canaria will have a new increase in connectivity for the second half of the 2024 financial year, with the availability of 1.319.427 seats offered by the different airlines for the months of July, August and September and 1.447.876 seats flights planned for the months of October, November and December, which occupy the first part of the winter season of the tourist destination Gran Canaria.

The destination is advancing in connectivity issues despite being installed in a record statistic. Gran Canaria had 1.220.376 places between July and September 2023, which represents an increase of 8,12%. Meanwhile, between October and December 2023 there were 1.447.876 seats. This year-on-year comparison offers an increase of 11,94% for the start of the winter season.

The Minister of Tourism, Carlos Álamo, recalled that airlines project the number of seats based on the demand that exists in the source markets of clients coming to Gran Canaria.

In addition, he pointed out that “we have more places and we are also the Canarian destination where visitors stay the longest, with an annual average that is close to 13 days, which has an effect on the sustainability of the destination that is greater than not. require more trips to achieve the desired billing.”

“Right now we have 86,62% of the hotel beds reserved for the months of July to September, with which we are confident of having a turnover during the summer period that exceeds that of the previous year. We work to increase this statistical data, understanding that it is the priority of the sector and a social demand, in such a way that the productivity and profitability of this sector stops being based exclusively on the number of visitors and, in this sense, we have achieved increase billing each year and to be specific, 19% in the first half of this year compared to the previous one,” announced the director.
