Hoteles Escuela de Canarias, SA, the regional tourism training company, is going to accelerate its presence in the south of Gran Canaria using information technologies (ICT). The Minister of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands, Jéssica de León, and the CEO of Hoteles Escuela de Canarias (Hecansa), Paola Plasencia, have launched the works of the future technological center for the training of the tourism sector in the Canary Islands, located in the vicinity of the center of Hotel Escuela Santa Brígida and that will bring the training closer to the south of the island.
It is a building located on a plot of 10.757 square meters and two floors, a public property that the Autonomous Department wants to recover to use as a technological reference space in terms of tourism. The total investment is 2,9 million euros, including the construction project, actions financed with European funds and which will be a reality at the end of this year.
De León assured that “what we are doing is expanding in the future the training that the Hotels Escuela de Canarias will have in the tourism sector, not only in cooking or hotel management, but we are going to take another step with innovative training and leading projects that provide solutions and answers to the future of tourism.” In addition, he highlighted that "we will incorporate different training actions that the industry requests in collaboration with international organizations."
For her part, the CEO of Hecansa, Paola Plasencia, assured that “it is about allocating resources to training and support in activities aimed at the generation and development of technological knowledge in the sector, trying to promote cooperation and technological transfer, with a vision oriented towards the needs of tourism.”
